Chihuly Garden and Glass Tickets

The venue’s own entry ticket to Chihuly Garden and Glass at Seattle Center — prices, timed entry, and what admission actually includes.

Updated January 0001

Chihuly Garden and Glass is in Seattle, at Seattle Center, at the foot of the Space Needle. That sentence is here first because search results for this exact phrase routinely surface Tacoma’s Museum of Glass, a different institution 35 miles south. If you are booking for a Seattle trip, this is the right page.

What the ticket includes

Admission covers eight galleries, the Glasshouse — a 40-foot room with a 100-foot suspended sculpture in reds, oranges and yellows — and the garden, which is planted so the glass appears to grow out of it. A free audio guide runs on your own phone, and free Gallery Talks of about 10 minutes run through the day. The Hot Shop blows glass daily, and watching a piece being made is the part that changes how you look at the rest.

What it costs

The venue prices by date rather than a flat fare. General admission currently sits in a $40–45 band; seniors and youth aged 5 to 12 around $35–40; children under 4 free. A combined admission with the Space Needle and IMAX is listed at about $74, and Seattle CityPASS at $119–139.

Booking ahead does not lower the price. What it buys is the timed slot and free cancellation up to 24 hours, neither of which the ticket desk gives you.

Timed entry, and why it matters

Entry is by timed slot. On summer weekends and holiday afternoons the good times genuinely run out, and the exhibition is compact enough that arrival time changes the experience — a full room and a quiet one are different visits. The venue posts hours about a month ahead and they vary by day, so check the date you hold rather than a general rule.

How long to allow

One to two hours, unhurried, covers everything. Forty-five minutes is possible and wastes the garden. Photographers stay longer than they planned, every time.

Evening, if you can

The glass is lit from within after dark and the garden reads completely differently, with the Needle overhead. It is the same ticket and, for most people, the better visit — the comparison is here.

Accessibility and the small print

The exhibition is wheelchair accessible. Children 4 and younger enter free. Tickets are not valid during special or private events, and Gallery 9, the Glasshouse, is occasionally reserved — when that happens the rest of the exhibition stays open and the adjusted hours are posted in advance. The venue opens 363 days a year.
